Woman rescued from Charlotte storm damage
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — At least one person is facing life-threatening injuries after a tree caused extensive damage to a home in south Charlotte Monday morning.
Around 6 a.m. during strong winds, a tree fell onto the homes along Countrymens Court.
Firefighters searched the debris and rescued at least one person from the damage. That woman was transported to Atrium Health’s Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of life threatening injuries.
Wake Up Charlotte’s Richard DeVayne was live on the scene as fire responders rescued the woman.

The woman’s daughter had just arrived to work when she was told to come back because the tree fell on the building.
At the time, there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Mecklenburg County with radar estimated winds around 60 mph.
Over 31,000 Duke Energy customers were without power during Monday’s storms. That total could go up as strong winds take down more trees and power lines across the Charlotte area.
